Depending on how you define a personal computer, Apple may have pulled ahead of Dell, HP and Acer to become America’s largest computer manufacture, according to a new analysis from Deutche Bank. All of the major computer producers saw a drop in business in 2010, but the rise in iPad sales in the second quarter of this year pushed Apple above all others. (more…)

Verizon recently announced it would sell the iPad bundled with the MiFi mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, but the 1GB data plan wasn’t too impressive. Fortunately, the Verizon website reveals there will also be 3GB and 5GB plans with relatively good pricing. The advantage of Verizon’s iPad deal was that it did not require a contract. Still, a single gigabyte per month is hardly enough for the average user. (more…)

Though just a rumor at this point, Internet tethering may come to future versions of the iPad, a feature that would increase the popular device’s mobile connectivity. The process of using a mobile device with Internet access (such as a phone) as an Internet portal for other devices, tethering is currently not supported on the iPad. (more…)

BMW is keeping up with the in-car media race with the introduction of rear-seat cradles specially designed to hold iPads. The iPad docks, which rotates for portrait and landscape viewing, are scheduled to debut on the BMW X3 at the 2010 Paris Motor Show next month. Starting in the Spring, they will be available on all models, according to the blog AutoSpies.com. (more…)
